Daily Skull 31

I'm experimenting with different materials and techniques while sketching, then transforming the drawing on paper to a vector illustration in Ai. To have some reference point between the various styles and techniques, I have chosen a fix theme, a human skull.

Since this is just a little daily warm-up practice, I don't intend to over-complicate things, the time limit to these side projects is max. 15 minutes.

Today's process:
loose pencil sketch + layered vector shapes

You can see some of the original drawings in yesterday's Wednesketchday #47!

Thank you for keeping track of my daily updates! Next month I will do something different, stay tuned for another round of daily visual exercises!

Dino wall 1.2

Four years ago Enzo and I painted a wall for a never released documentary, and I said we will release the remixed, finished wall with updated characters "soon". I found the photos few days ago and realized that never happened, and thought it's better late than never, so here they are...

The original production:

Wednesketchday 46

This is a sneak peek of the stuff I've been working on lately: getting busy with more "traditional" lettering, and handwriting. There's a lot more to practice, but hey, nobody was born with skills like Norm AWR!
Below are a few more wip shots:

Not much going on graffiti-wise, I've been busy with other illustrations lately, the best I was able to do is to sort out how to combine 5-6 sketches into one ultimate piece:

Can't wait to finish that wall and to reveal the final image!
Of course, there's allways time for a quick, few-minute experiments with new materials and techniques:

While we're at the subject of experiments, this month was a breakthrough in my time management and relationship towards work, I "forced" myself into a daily drawing challenge, and I can say, it's more fun and less hustle than it sounds and I'm really enjoying it; Here's a small collection of original doodles that I use for the Daily Skull challenge:

Thanks for reading, hope to see you soon on my blog!

Happy B-Day

Just found this e-mail lost in the inbox, my Tumblr blog had turned 2 a few days (weeks?) ago! It was born as a result of a bet with Mikachuz, but she never completed her part of the deal, I'm still waiting for that table tennis deathmatch! :P

MobilePark Mural Update

I totally forgot to post these updates, the first week of painting was so exhausting I was glad I had a little room to breathe due to last week's bad weather.
Check out what's been done so far:

Day 01

A quick shopping trip to BeoWallz graffiti shop in Belgrade and a brief visit to a friends studio. Big up to Jest for all the help and support, and Best for the beer and hospitality!

Back to Kikinda, time for some sketching in the dark...

Day 02

Applying basic layers of primer paint and additional sketches...
We had a lot of brainstorming sessions and discussion whether we/I should or shouldn't paint classic graffiti names in addition to the mandatory illustrations. The final decision was no pieces, but I changed my mind on the go since a lot of things have been changed between the planning and execution of this mural.

Finally it was time to empty a few cans! I've spent the whole day on the only scaffolding we could find in the town, and although it wasn't as unstable and dangerous as it seems, it was a pain in the ass to relocate it 666 times during the day. Thanks a lot for everybody who was there and gave a helping hand, without you we wouldn't be able to finish in time!

I continued to work 'til the lights went out at 23h. Packing, relocating the stuff back home and it was 01AM already. Not a comforting feeling given that I needed to finish 'til 12h the next day, or at least to bring it to an acceptable level where no one involved should guess the mural isn't finished...

Day 03

I showed up at 0730h and went back to scaffolding to finish the Pegasus and the temporary logos of sponsors. It was very strange to wake up that early to go painting instead of going to bed after a night session, but hey, every beginning is hard!

The Pegasus, the central element of the mural is 99% finished, the mess we did around the wall was cleaned up and everything was ready to be officially opened to the general public:

This was also the first time I saw what the organizers from Creativia and a small army of volunteers from Youth Office did during the last two days literally behind my back, as I was almost all the time up on the scaffolding painting and minding my own business.
The first mobile park in the country received a warm welcome, except from a handful of haters who think they are smarter than everyone and try to bring down people who are willing to make a difference in this small town. Well, we have bad news, you can keep barking, but we will continue to do the job we love!

Until the next update, thanks for reading and see you soon with the finished wall!
